Oh, come on. The suggested name sounds funny and ridiculous. Please note that ‘gnat’ (plural ‘gnaty’) refers to a part of the skeleton, a bone. Ivory is something else entirely; it is a smooth material obtained from elephant tusks (as well as the dentine of several other mammals, such as the walrus, hippopotamus, narwhal, or even the now-extinct mammoth), used to make decorative pieces. Animal bones can also be used for decorative purposes, but they are made of a completely different compound. In my opinion, a more appropriate word for ‘ivory’ is ‘elfenbajn’ (compare German Elfenbein). I didn’t make this word up; you’ll find ‘elfenbajn’ in the work “Kleines phraseologisches Wörterbuch der oberschlesichen Sprache im Bezirk Oppeln ind Umgebung” by Dr. Wolfgang Lazik.
